Okay, again, I'm sorry that it worked out that I'll miss you. Seriously, I was looking forward to hanging out and showing you a little of Beijing. But, this other opportunity was good and he can use the help.
So...he's what I've done to try and make up for it. I've found some different events for the three days that you and your friends will be here. You might not like the look of any of them, but, here are the links. The cityweekend page will give you a description and a location/time/price/contact info./etc.
August 3 evening: Classical Concert (violinist/pianist), Australian (90's) Pop Artist (kind of expensive)
August 4: New Pixar animated movie, Up
August 5 evening: Jazz night at Scarllet Wine Bar & Restaurant
Other:
Ice Age 3
Main Cinemas
I did check to see if there were any 'Ladies nights' but couldn't find one for your days, but you can check this link to see if any have been added since I looked: Ladies nights
Top Three Suggestions that I KNOW are good:
1. I'd highly suggest the HouHai area. It used to be an imperial garden. There's a lake and all around it are these restaurants and bars, many of which will have a band in the evening. It's a lot of fun to just walk around...it's all lit up at night. This link is an address to arestaurant right beside the lake, so I don't know about the restaurant, but this address will get you exactly to the area. This really is a fun and relaxing place to hang out with a few friends. The lake is beautiful at night (and in the daytime, too).
2. Annie's is a really good little Italian restaurant with deliscious pizza and pastas (not too expensive, maybe 70RMB for a large pizza and 20RMB for a glass of wine). There's five different locations. They also do free delivery to (I'm pretty sure anywhere in the city). You can call this number for
3. There's also this AMAZING little french cafe in the SanLiTun (the bar street area). Big selection of bars if you like an evening drink, too. It's on BeiLu (North Street), the place is called Crepanani. It has crepes (the chocolate ones are especially good) and also does waffles and pananis (which I haven't tried yet). Go to this link for the exact address.
I hope you have a great time in Beijing and enjoy the rest of your crazy summer tour. Sorry again for ditching you! :)
